Big, FAT, buzz tail.

Not my picture, thank goodness.  Although I've seen a few, nothing that big and happy.

  2. Actually, mature rattlesnakes often don't inject venom when striking, as they have a limited amount, which is needed for prey.

The young rattlesnakes are more dangerous, as they haven't yet learned how to conserve their venom, and will inject it with every bite.

But, yes, rattlesnake venom is VERY painful, as it is also digestive enzyme, which begins immediately to destroy tissue, so the rattlesnake can swallow it whole (but obviously, only if its prey is smaller than a human being).

    1. darn straight! raw buzz tails taste really nasty but ok as a survival food and raw means the water component of the tissues is not evaporated. bit of campfire smoke makes em much better. barbecue even more so.
