Luftskipet (the airship) “Norge” over Ekeberg, 14. april 1926.

  1. I was wondering about all the wires, but then I realized!

The airship is very modern and progressive, so it's run on electric motors; the motors get their power from electric windmills on the ground, so they'd hook up one set in front while disconnecting from the one in back!

The hookup and disconnect was of course done by small boys on bicycles, who got the equivalent of 2 cents/mile (though there was a movement to ban them from this dangerous employment and send them back to the salt mines, which was considered safer.)

I'm sure all this can be confirmed by the NYT, just check the files for 1926!
