Some interesting things about Trump's statement issued today

Here's the statement.  Focused, and to the point.  You can tell he is from private industry.

Point One: Who is your president now?  He looks, sounds and acts like the president.  What's Obama doing today?  Probably golfing.

Point Two: Has any other president elect made such a statement at this point in the transition process?

Point Three:  He is making this on Youtube, not on the main stream media.  Already, he is setting the ground rules for bypassing the MSM filter, which Reagan was a master of, and which served him very well.  Given the MSM's clear prejudice, this is exactly what he should do. If he pulls this off, he will show the way for every other politician.  The MSM has to be frightened by this, as it hits them square in the jaw ( note, I'm avoiding the obvious joke here - give me some credit!).

Point Four: He is telling the MSM, to their face, that it's war.   Props to Breitbart for saying this truth so early on.   There will be no nuance, no pointy headed analysis, no commentary.  He's going direct to the man and woman at home, sitting on their sofa, wanting to know what the heck the new guy is going to do.

Maybe this has something to do with it.  War!  They are his prisoners and it's the firing squad for them.

"Donald Trump scolded media big shots during an off-the-record Trump Tower sitdown on Monday, sources told The Post."
“It was like a f–ing firing squad,” one source said of the encounter.
“Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’ ” the source said.
“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the source added.
“Trump didn’t say [NBC reporter] Katy Tur by name, but talked about an NBC female correspondent who got it wrong, then he referred to a horrible network correspondent who cried when Hillary lost who hosted a debate – which was Martha Raddatz who was also in the room.”

Now, what do you bet the media spends the next week or two whining publicly about the manhandling they just got - which will make them look like the losers they are to the people outside the imperial capital city.  Trump is setting a trap, and it will be interesting to see if they fall for it.
The American people were tired of nice guys like Romney and McCain, and hired a brawler. But a smart one.  They got what they wanted with Trump, and more.

  1. I laughed out load while reading the NY Post article about his meeting with the network heads and big time anchors and reporters. It's about time someone had the balls to put them in their place. I am becoming more of a Trump fan every day............

  3. THE MAN! President Trump is going to be great! WRT to the mainstream media, this is a fight and war that they started. No one is going after them unprovoked -- we are fighting back. They picked this fight and they now find themselves down at the deep end of the pool. They are going DOWN

  4. It's the first time since Reagan that I feel my vote was REALLY worthwhile. LOVE IT!

  5. Most high profile democrats will not go on Fox News. Haven't for years in a coordinated boycott to minimize the network. Its nice to see the official democrat state media finally get what it has coming.

    1. Ha! Trap sprung. I wonder if the press will figuratively chew off their own leg to get free?

  7. The points you made C.W. were spot on. I read them to my wife and emailed them to some of my MAGA friends. I would not have seen all of these "obvious" points, so thanks again.

  8. Any thoughts on his decision not to "lock up" HRC, and not even to prosecute her, as he promised to do?

    1. Dunno. I'm surprised he decided not to. Those decisions are made not by him so much but by the Justice Department, although certainly there is powerful influence. Perhaps they'll go after her for the Clinton Foundation, which appears to be chock full of corruption, and a prosecution of which would be just removed enough from the other wrongdoing to appear to be less of a witch hunt.

Perhaps he doesn't want the public distraction?

If he doesn't, he darned well ought to pardon that sailor doing time for taking innocently intended pictures of the submarine. If Hillary is off the hook, that sailor should be as well.

But, were I president, I'd appoint a special prosecutor and let them loose. But I'm not president.

    2. Another thought. Obama can pardon. Maybe he's baiting Obama to forget about all that until he is out of office. Then, the special prosecutor.
      Three dimensional chess?
