Glocks are good but 1911's are righteous!

    1. Real women also carry a cattle prod for men who get fresh... (Brighid carries a cattle prod and a handgun in her purse)

  2. I'm very fond of my Kimber 1911. The design is time-tested and it works.

    1. I have owned a dozen 1911s. Currently I'm down to just four:
Colt Combat Commander, SA 1911 A1, Para Elite Commander, and my favorite, Kimber Stainless Compact (pre series II.)
      I love my Kimber!
The recently acquired Para is also promising- rd count about 350, no failures of any kind, and very accurate.

  3. I disagree with the entire premise. I think if you're shooting .45 ACP you've got enough points in the manly scale regardless of if you use a Glock or a 1911 (though like Glen I like mine in a revolver form). The debate between Glock and 1911 for me is the debate between casual shooters versus serious shooters, or more like the AK versus AR debate.
Glock is good. The Glock is the AK of the pistol world. Simple to use, simple to maintain, nigh indestructable, and in my experience it will eat any ammunition you can find and spit out the cases with nary a jam or stovepipe. But it has flaws that the more serious shooters will point out. My personal dislike is the double-action only trigger.
But the 1911 is for the serious shooters. It takes more training to use and maintain, it can be finicky about ammo. But it is more accurate. Real shooters prefer the 1911.
I will not disparage someone's manliness for choosing one over the other. I do however reserve the right to make pointed comments if you think the .45 ACP kicks too hard.

    1. Well said indeed.

You want hard kicking, then torch off a round of 454 Casull. That bad boy rocks.

    2. Or a 460 S&W if you want a real flame thrower.

    3. Glocks have earned their reputation as tough and reliable pistols, but they have no soul.
1911s require more attention to care and feeding, but a good one is pure joy.

Recoil? Pshaw. Ask me about my Trench Gun.
