Should'a put this in the Open Road

But I just now found it.  Looks like a place I'd like to be.

  1. Looks like Colorado. Those scree fields and the altitude - maybe somewhere northeast of Silverton?

  2. I'm lovin' that road! The old Scout has been on similar tracks, Laurel Lakes south of Mammoth and the White Rim Trail in Utah. This road will put your sphincter in the pucker mode for sure!

    1. Hey Lou, I hear tell there are a few roads like that up in the Sweetwaters. We ought to find them once the snow melts ( which will probably be in March).

  4. I white knuckled it up and down mt Patterson in my stock 4runner several years ago. I wouldn't drive any vehicle with a longer wheelbase up there. A beautiful shelf road with outstanding views from the top.

    1. Any pictures? So my Dodge 1500 might be a stretch, it sounds like.

  5. I might have some pics. The problem was all the back and forward, with 1000 feet of penalty for failure, to make the switchbacks. I'd drive to the first switchback to get an idea if you can do it. The only bad off camber is right there after the switchback.
