Around 150 Amish men from the Kalona area help to carry one of four pieces of a large barn Friday morning along Highway 22 east of Kalona. The men moved the barn by foot to the homestead of Paul T. Miller, who purchased the structure at an auction from Randy Billups of Kalona. It took the group about four hours to finish the task, and they drew the attention of numerous passersby. "I've never seen anything like this. This is something from 'Ripley's Believe it or Not, '" Dick Schlatter of Kalona remarked. Press-Citizen/Matthew Holst

The picture is poor quality, but you get the idea.

A real color photo of Saturn from the Cassini spacecraft.  Absolutely gorgeous.

More grass roots commentary on The Lightbringer's job performance.  Don't think Hillary isn't hiding in the Cook Islands for no reason.

Occupy RNC ends in low turnout, tears and frustration.

“Occupy is a romance, a tragedy, a comedy … it’s autonomous. Everyone has their own experience,” he said, “I think the rain really discouraged a lot of people. We lost sixteen buses that were going to come down here.” Mike said he was disappointed that the turnout was so low. “I think we’ll have a lot more people in Charlotte,” he added. (emphasis added, of course!)

Ho ho!  Let's just see these crybabies disrupt the convention of their natural allies, the Democrats/Progressives/Liberals!  That would be sweet, sweet justice.

"The mood on the scene was subdued and quiet. It was clear the weeklong demonstration had come to a close, and the camp wasn’t celebrating a victory but mourning a missed opportunity."

You cry your salty tears of frustration anarchists, Obama was not your saviour after all.

This timeline is just hilarious for President Incompetent.

Romney to visit areas damaged by Hurricane Isaac.

LAKELAND, Fla. — In a last-minute change of plans, Mitt Romney will head to visit storm-affected areas in New Orleans today, skipping a previously scheduled joint rally with running mate Paul Ryan in the battleground state of Virginia this afternoon.
A Romney aide told ABC News that Romney will “join Gov. Jindal and will meet with first responders, thank them for their work and see areas impacted by the storm in LaFitte, La.”

Can you say, "Sandbagged?" I guess we know who's better at three dimensional chess.  Surely it can't be this easy to fool the One?

Obama scrambles to cancel campaign stops after being shown up by candidate Romney.

President Barack Obama was today forced to announce he will fly to storm-hit Louisiana on Monday – hours after Mitt Romney beat him to the punch by deciding to head there this afternoon.
After it emerged that Obama was still taking time to fit in a campaign stop in Cleveland, Ohio before checking out how clean-up operations are proceeding in the Bayou state, the Obama campaign abruptly cancelled that event.

Lying once again, the White House claims they had already planned to visit storm damaged Louisiana.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday that President Obama had decided to go to look at storm damage in Louisiana even before Mitt Romney announced his trip there.

But the White House lie is contradicted by the statement of their own spokesperson.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki told POLITICO earlier Friday that the president had no plans yet to visit the Gulf state and review damage from Hurricane Isaac, even though Mitt Romney announced plans to visit Friday.

Score one for Romney.  This was just too easy.

Original juxtaposition by Drudge, the master.

Water the tree, Thomas, water the tree!

It's really amazing how truly revolutionary our founding fathers actually were.

Eastwood's best line from his RNC speech.

Borepatch has put up a post on truth, our national institutions, and power, that is well expressed, perceptive, and a pleasure to read.

It is in fact a work of genius.   Go thee thence and enjoy.
One line in Romney's speech, as Gerard Van Der Leun sagely points out, was the tool that could be used to cut Obama down to size.

One line to rule them all...

"President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. MY promise . . . is to help you and your family"
Clint Eastwood's speech at the RNC was in fact pretty good.  His interview of an empty chair was entertaining, and the crowd loved it.  Well worth the watch.

And you know that when the Progressives hear the truth, it gets under their skinThey hate the truth, they cannot abide it, and like the emotional midgets that they are, they lash out.  It is the perfect way to tell if you are winning.
Democrats are so hard up to fill their convention that they are giving away tickets at local bars.

Even Hillary is staying away, spending her time in that hot spot of world power, the Cook Islands.

I saw a guy walking down the street the other day whose pants were almost as low as the second guy from the left.

I know about edgy style and all, but this is simply stupid.

More grass roots unhappiness with our President Lightbringer .  Looks like he brought something else besides light, and people are growing more and more aware of it.

Hurricane Isaac approaches landfall, at night.

I love satillite pictures.

I just filled up the truck yesterday and paid 4.37 a gallon.  Yes, it's California, but still.... the progressives have always wanted US gas prices to equal Euro prices, I guess to punish us for our success, and to force everyone into mini cars, which for some reason they think we all ought to drive.

Just another cost of voting for Democrats.

Marko Kloos has put up a great article that argues that "The gun is civilization."

Most folks don't realize why the second amendment was so important to the founders of our country.  Hint: it wasn't about hunting.

Go thee thence and read it all.

This went up just outside Fort Leavenworth.  One ought to go up outside of every military base in the country, and add in the CIA, FBI and Homeland Security, wherever they are headquartered.

Consider this battle space preparation for when Obama loses the election.

File this on under "not a Tea Partier."

A Protester in Tampa is arrested while carrying a full sized machete strapped to his leg.

I bite you no matter how big you are.

Your good news of the day.

Although this article attempts to be pessimistic, the numbers actually show that the California sea otter population has increased 1.5% every year since 2010.

Breitbart documents the plan the Democrats likely have to disrupt the Republican National Convention using anarchists and their allies.

So what happened to reaching across the aisle, and being a post partisan president?  Looks like his party and their comrades in arms are planning just the opposite.

Already, Tampa police have arrested three people on a city rooftop with a BB gun.

In spite of the media's attempt to pin the propensity for violence on flag waving, middle aged Tea Partiers, history shows us that it is nearly exclusively the left that is violent.

Over at Legal Insurrection, Professor Jacobson has discovered what has to be the best bumper sticker of all time.

And it comes, from all places, Portland, Oregon, which is usually considered hyper liberal in it's politics.

This work of art, however,  is just hyper funny!

Over at Every Day Dutch Oven, Liddy posted a recipe for baked bratwurst, onions and potatoes that looked killer, so the ingredients were gathered up and an attempt was made to cook up some of it.

I used Russets, and I added some old cube steak that had been hibernating in the back of the freezer for too long, introduced everything together in the Dutch oven, and put it on the briquets.  As I always seem to do, I started about twice as many as I really needed, but the result was still quite delicious.

Here are all the fixings arranged real pretty on the stove.

Everything layered into the Dutch oven.

Outside cooking.  Looking really good at this point.

On the plate and ready to eat.  Yum!

This one actually made a lot of good comfort food for a relatively minimal effort.  It only required gathering the ingredients, mixing them together and cooking.  A keeper for sure.

Rest in peace, Neil Armstrong

WTF??

Obamacare begins child sterilization without parental consent.

Really, it's time to get out the pitchforks and flaming brands, and burn these assholes at the stake or something.  Nancy "let's pass the bill so we can see what's in the bill" Pelosi first.
Back in the day, when we had babies around, this is exactly how it was at our house.

Out in Taxxachusetts, Scott Brown, the Republican currently holding the "Ted Kennedy" seat in Congress, has been in a close battle with Democrat Elizabeth Warren, who gained fame during the campaign for falsely claiming she was part Cherokee.

Well, it looks like Fauxcahontas, as she is called, is going to lose as her poll numbers are beginning to fall like a paratrooper jumping out of the back of a plane.

In other words, Geronimo!

Thanks to Evil Blogger Lady
Jon Corzine and his people stole a billion - that's Billion - dollars of their customers cash, and now the government lawyers are buying his excuse that "I didn't know."

I never thought Sargent Schultz's excuse "I know nothing!" would ever be anything other than humor, but so far the joke is on the investors in MF Global.

Now, one man is on a mission to see hyper criminal Jon Corzine in prison.  That man is John Koutoulas.  Watch him in action as he talks to Rick Santelli.

His words are music to my ears:

Best quotes from Koutoulas:
“Crimes were unequivocally committed and I will do whatever I can to continue to do the government’s job for it and help see justice done.”
“MF Global had a choice. Do we cheat or go out of business. And they cheated. They broke the law. And these took these customer funds to cover margin calls.”
“Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice is the biggest enabler of financial crime in U.S. history.”
And the kill shot:
I will take this to all 50 states. And we will win. We will get a conviction of Jon Corzine. And the next time a sociopath CEO says ‘Do I go out of business or do I cheat,’ he’s gonna think about President Obama’s biggest fundraiser in an orange jumpsuit in state prison.”
